evolution of dance
Finally got wordpress going!!! I’m off learning how to use it now. In the mean time…Jem sent this to me earlier, the evolution of dance, HIGHLY amused.
FINALLY!
After hours of trying to figure out how to install WP I finally figured out I had put the files in the wrong place! Grrrrr. Thanks to tech support at 1and1, HERE I AM!
reminders…summer school…ballgames
“remember the last time you changed your site around?” Sage
Ha!!! Thank you Sage for the reminder. I do remember. I broke my blog. OMG! that was not good. I’ve been playing and I’m not TOUCHING this site! I will eventually stop using blogger, but not until I have a grasp on the other. I just didn’t want to disappear and not at least leave a message as to where I went or why I’m not blogging. You know bloggers who do that. Not that it is any of our business, but if you frequent a site and then all of the sudden it isn’t there, you wonder why. Just thought I would let my lurkers know. BTW, you people need to say something sometime LOL. nah. I know sometimes you just stop by to read a blog and you are not always inspired to say something. At least that is my reason for not commenting when I visit.
Summer school started Monday. Can you believe it is ONLY Tuesday? I can’t feels like Thursday to me. In fact I saw someone who clicked from the Thursday 13 website and I wondered if I had missed another one! Then realized it is only Tuesday so there is still time to complete a T13 list. Maybe I should do it now so that I can get it in! Back on track…summer school. I get there on time yesterday and have 30 people on role. GREAT! I have 32 desks, NP! Students come in at 7:45…7:50…8:00…8:15…8:30 and I peak out my door to tell admin to STOP SENDING ME STUDENTS! By noon I had 36 students in my room and 42 on role. By 2 PM, I had 35 students in my room, 42 on role, AND a student teacher!!! WHAT?!?!?! I told him to pull up a spot of wall and enjoy the show. OMG it was tough but we got through it. The students were divided and a second term was created. Since I’m a semester course, my summer term is only 10 days. Now my month of June is occupied, but at least I’ll be paid for it and I don’t have to warden over 36-42 students in a room that comfortably holds 28. Today was much better. Only 23 students. We placed some in extended school (ESY) and the rest in term 2 summer. In ESY students complete only enough work to earn 1-6 points (as needed.)
It shocks me that students who failed a course in the regular school year have the gall to try and sleep in summer school! Don’t you EVEN!!! My class is not a gimme and you will durn well do the work! In the morning when admin asked for volunteers for term two, only three students volunteered. By the afternoon several thought it was a good idea. hehe. I told them ALL regular semester, “you will either do the work now, or in summer school.” Now they know I meant what I said! I am seeing a new side of these kids though. Students who goofed off in class, didn’t come to class, or made life miserable for their teachers are now being attentive to lecture, participating, and completing work! It is the coolest thing!!!! It amazes me what they do not know though. (Where MS is on a map. Surrounding states. What the revolutionary war was. Very basic info.)
On another note, I am trying to enjoy aspects of summer. Still playing softball. We’ve won more than we’ve lost, but we are not playing well lately. Had a make-up game last night and made many silly errors. Lost 8-3. Had a game tonight and didn’t even make a run. Of course, the team we were playing was probably a practice team for a local community college. I usually play second, short, or third. I hate outfield because I have poor depth perception. In makes tracking a fly ball pretty difficult. The past two games we have had absent players. Since I can really chunk the ball, I’ve been stuck in left field. I really don’t mind playing it. Gets some action and I can get the ball to first if not too far out there. But I miss my infield position.
Time is passing and morning comes early…better wrap it up and turn in. (No wonder people struggle with English, we really have a strange way of putting some things don’t we!)
Thanks for stopping by. I promise not to break my blog again and when I officially move, I’ll let someone know. Until then, if not posting, know that I am just insane and got in deep teaching summer school. Hey, at least it’s money right! Um, WOW earning my keep. It is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I need to email my grad profs and tell them I have a new appreciation for what they did. My grad program was made up of six Saturday classes a semester, 9-5. It was hard to pay attention that long. I now realize it is even harder to teach that long.
Hope all is well in your world. Kontan Jou!!!!
experimenting
Eventually I will no longer be using Blogger. I’m experimenting with ideas at www.kontansplace.com. Drop by. Tell me what you think. or not.
When the blog feature of 1and1.com is available I will be hosting my blog there. Until then I am playing with a flash site that has been interesting. Problem is I don’t like how it operates and totally dislike the guestbook. HOPEFULLY I can get wordpress going. Either way, it is a learning experience.
Anyone willing to do wordpress lessons?
spinning wheels
Spent the day in a organizational meeting doing nothing but spinning our wheels. I really hate wasting time. We get started late b/c the big cheese is not there, had a situation to deal with apparently. What time we do spend throwing out ideas is nothing but frustrating. No noncommittal on all ideas thrown out there. If you don’t want to make a decision, PLEASE let’s not waste time discussing it!
Anyway, get home, check on Tchaik. OMG! He has removed ALL of his stitches! So called the vet, receptionist was not alarmed. Explained it was common. So I took him in to be looked at and picked up meds to spray on him instead of resuturing him. I called around to other vets just to see if they had the meds I needed. Our vet is 20 minutes away and I really didn’t want to drive it. Other vets suggested resuturing. That makes sense, but mine explained that he will just continue to take them out and it would heal fine if we kept it clean and used the meds. So that is what I chose. Tchaik is happy and not in visible pain and I would really rather not tranquilize him, trim it, and suture just so he can get it out again. So here we are…spraying him on the road to recovery. Much to his dismay he will be an inside dog for the next week.
All is well in my world. Had a wonderful anniversary dinner with Djembe. Really nice to go out without the kids and just enjoy each other’s company. The kids did well today , playing in my classroom while I met with others in my building. Tomorrow will be a nice relax day and then the weekend. Summer school starts Monday. I’m looking forward to getting through it. Curious to see how it works teaching the same subject for 8 hours. I can sympathize with the students. My grad program was made up of 8 hour Saturday classes. EEEEEK! Now I will experience it from the other end.
Have a game in an hour so guess I should get ready to play ball!!!
