Thursday Thirteen 7/27

Author: kontan  //  Category: Ramblings

As I try to come up with a T13 list I can’t help but look around and think about all the things that I need to be doing before school starts. With that in mind…here are 13 things that I want to finish before going back to school on Aug. 4th…

Thursday Thirteen

1. Laundry. Mountains of laundry. I hate folding clothes. I would much rather clean floors, mow the grass or scrub a toilet.

2. Which brings me to number two, thoroughly clean the bathrooms. Replace the shower curtain in the master bath. Buy a lighthouse clock for the kids bath. Add a towel shelf for ours so that I can also put shells on it. Buy new towels.

3. School supplies. I’m not too fond of shopping for those either.

4. Clean carpets.

5. Finish my class websites. I completed the base site last night, but need to finish the companion sites for each subject I will teach this year. Click here if you’re curious.

6. Buy new school clothes for me and the girls. I have plenty of capris for me, but need new slacks. The girls keep growing and hand-me-downs no longer work for the youngest. Different body types.

7. Yard work.

8. Bulletin boards and classroom decoration needs to be completed. For the most part my room is ready, but there will be little classroom time when we go back for teacher days. Since orientation will be Monday, the second day teachers are there, my room needs to be ready.

9. Lesson plans. I do not want to do a single lesson plan at the last minute this semester. I have taught this class for several years now, I can do a good outline of weekly plans and pretty much stick to it. By doing them all at once I can focus my planning time on next semester prep. I haven’t taught World Geography before, I’m so excited!

10. Visit Bham again. I have an uncle who just had multiple by-pass surgery and a friend in another hospital there. My cousin leaves mid-August and I really want see her again before they go home to UAE for the year.

11. Carry off all that didn’t go in the yard sale.

12. Get the house as clean as possible so that when school starts we will not come home each day to clutter.

13. Have a date with Djembe.

Gah! I HATE laundry. Abhor laundry. I hate to scrub toilets, too. However, I DO love to shop for school supplies because I am a self-proclaimed office supply junkie!

Great list. Mine is up, too! Happy TT.

  2. Bev Says:

I honestly get jealous buying school supplies for my son. I loved going to school and getting new clothes and school supplies was almost like Christmas to me. ;)

    Love your list.

  7. Tense Teacher Says:

You are one ambitious lady; here’s hoping you get more accomplished than I have all summer.

Your class website looks great! Do you pay for the space yourself, or does your school district give you web space?

  8. kontan Says:

TT, Bahahahahah! My district pay? Hahahaha! That was good.

I’ll come by your spot on the web with the info…

  9. Stacy Says:

Wow, that’s a very ambitious list. I hope you get most, if not all, of it done. Cleaning the carpets would have to be dropped from my list though - ugh!

Have a great day, my T13 is up also…

i completely know this list. we go back to school the following week. i have 4 girls (and a boy) and completely gt thedifferent body types negating handmedowns…plus the fact that #2 daughter would wear clothes out!
hope you can get this all done and relax too.
thanks for visiting my 13 this week.

  11. carmen Says:

i say screw the rest, except for the date ;)

  12. Bellezza Says:

Your list sounds like my list; in other words, lots of work and not much reading. P.U.! I do not know how I can come to the end of summer, almost, and still have not made as big a dent in my books as I planned on doing all year. I met with a teacher I’m helping through remediation this year today. It definitely has put school back on my mind as we planned the first week together, plus her bulletin boards and room arrangements.

I look forward to blogging with you about school and life.

  13. Raggedy Says:

That is a very busy list!
    Good TT

  14. trish Says:

I too wait until the last minute to work on lesson plans. Why do we do this to ourselves?
