Throwing in the towel

PhotobucketI give. Blogging has become a chore and I think it is best to stop now before I decide to stop altogether. Actually, blogging isn’t the chore. I’m so frustrated and overwhelmed with school junk that blogging is secondary. Some days I just flat out do not feel like sitting down with the computer. Take for example now…I would rather go to bed early and rest. Instead I have to prepare for tomorrow. I have no desire to prepare for tomorrow. My students are completely unmotivated and it is beating me down. I know, it is my job to teach and motivate them. I say to you…try it and get back to me. Teaching is a give and take. Every class is different. I have basic material that is covered in every class, but my discussion is guided by student reaction and student questioning. It is very tough to be motivational when nothing you do works. My wish…I want them to care. They don’t have to care about the subject. I know that not all will. I just want them to care about passing.

Ready for break and it is a month away. I used to hate having spring break so early. I cling to the fact that in two weeks we will have a long weekend. Very thankful. I think having spring break in April will still be great. I just wish Jem’s was at the same time…ah well. He needs a break soon anyway so it works out.

So…that rant aside. Bye-bye 365. I will no longer post on obligation.

BTW, this was not an easy post to make. I am not normally a quitter. *sigh*

You gotta do what is Best for you!
If you don’t have the energy for it it doesn’t make sense.

And no, I don’t want your job.
    Thanks, but no thanks ;)

    Sending you loads of energy!

Thanks Nicole…some days I don’t want my job either. :) Don’t get me wrong, I do love it and I care about the students. It is just an occupation with a low reward sometimes.

I couldn’t imagine trying to post daily–if I was a reporter and being paid for a column a day, that’s one thing. I’m glad you feel this burden lifted and look forward to more “joyous” posts as you work to get your life back into synch. Take care.

No worries. I have done the same thing on my blog. I blog when I feel like it or have something to say instead of just blogging to blog.
I’m proud of you for doing what’s right for you! Kudos! :)

I gave up on Blog365 sometime in February. I just got overwhelmed too, so don’t sweat it. And I’ve spent the last three years with unmotivated slugs. Does it ever get better? Sometimes I think it’s my fault …

Tom’s last blog post..The stupidest thing ever said to an English teacher … at least this week.

Don’t beat yourself up… It’s a hard thing to do, and if you’re not feeling it, then you’re doing the right thing for you.

Don’t worry, I don’t think less of you.
I have loved my job (Hotel business), but sometimes I more than hated it ;)

And I never did envy the jobs of teachers. Ever. ;)

I’m not sweating posting, I am sweating not to post too much :P

Above all, blogging is supposed to be fun. So if it’s turned into an obligation and not something fun for you, then I think you are very smart to wave the white flag.

Unfortunately, I completely understand where you are coming from with the give and take analogy. I’m lucky to have 2 great classes this semester…but my first semester of full time teaching I had the devil students that only tried to get me fired…they were so awful. They made me want to quit every time I had to deal with them.

The beauty of teaching though…in a few more months they’ll be gone and you get to start fresh. Hang in there!
