How well do you know…

I stole this from Dawn and thought it would be fun to complete on VD….

How well do you know your husband! -
Here’s a chance to see how well you really know your husband (spouse or significant other). Cut, paste and fill in the answers, then forward . . . shoot, you know what to do. The real challenge is to send it to your husband to see how right you really are.

1. He’s sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen? Food Network (Ace of Cakes, Iron Chef, Good Eats), Gordon Ramsey’s newest excitement, Auburn Football, Carolina Panthers, or if it’s the season NASCAR.

2. You’re out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad? Thousand Island

3. What’s one food he doesn’t like? fish/seafood, but like me he really wants to like it

4. You go out to eat and have a drink. What does he order? Single order of mixed fajitas to split and water.  Steak, cooked medium and garlic mashed potatoes.  Reuben s’wich.  Greek Salad.  If the drink is alcoholic it will be Jack on rocks, or Guinness…possibly Sam Adams.  Depends on the mood.  The wine will probably be a Cab Sav or Shiraz if I am picking.

5. Where did he go to high school? Shades Valley

6. What size shoe does he wear? 10 1/2 in some and 11 in most.

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be?  Cool percussion stuff, but he now has several cool coins so he may venture into the coin market.

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich? For the longest it was a Reuben…he also likes a good Philly Steak.  Subw@y it is usually an Italian BMT.

9. What would this person eat every day if he could?  I think he would get bored with anything if it was everyday.

10. What is his favorite cereal? Captain Crunch, but he hasn’t eaten cereal in years.

11. What would he never wear? A Dale Jr. hat, and AL hat.  Maybe for enough money on the Dale Jr.  There’s not enough for the AL.

12. What is his favorite sports team? Auburn, Carolina Panthers

13. Who did he vote for? That’s a little personal don’t ya think?

14. Who is his best friend? his little brother

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn’t do? lately…get home late almost every night

16. What is his favorite color? blue and orange

17. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake? Devil’s Food Cake

18. Did he play sports in high school? football before high school, then band took over

19. What could he spend hours doing? Lately…Guitar Hero.  Watch a race, race news, or AU/Panthers football

20. What is one unique talent he has? He has lots of talents  :-)   Hmmm….to share with the www…he is a musical percussionist not the play it loud and proud, right or wrong, drummer type.  He’s also a great cook and has mad media production skills.

H@lm@rk Holidays

I am so thankful that I do not need a holiday to know that I am loved. I am shown everyday and am truly blessed.

Hoping Valentine’s Day is everything you want it to be – enJOY!

Twitter

Twitter, don’t knock it til you try it. I am NOT a NYT fan, but I keep them in my feedreader for kicks, giggles, and perspective. Geek that I am, I do enjoy their tech articles.  This particular articles is rather amusing.  Twitter is a means of keeping friends/family/etc up to date by texting the answer to one simple question, “what are you doing?” Your “tweet”, or response, is received by your followers. Response messages can be turned off/on if you do not want a text from ALL of your followers everytime they get the urge to say what they are up to. Most people use it about like their fbook status and say whatever they happen to be thinking, doing, or reading.  You can update via web or via text, doesn’t matter.  iGoogle (which I now hate), netvibes, and other homepage sites have twitter apps that let you update without going to the webpage or your phone.  You can also link your personal site to Twitter.  Now that I have taken up time explaining what it is, let me get to the article…

Twitter is truly whatever you want it to be.   Some use it for business.  Some use it as a social tool. Some use it for the fun of playing with a new gadget.  It’s jsut a new gadget for me, but I do wish more of my family used it.  It is a neat way to keep up with info tidbits that connect you with others.  I may not have time to type an entire email, or blog post, but I can quickly tweet that I’m having a great day or a rough day…or good news we receive.

Just another fun tech tool IMO.  Any opinions?

Family fun night

Best purchase ever…Wii! Family fun nights are always a lot of fun, but the Wii has taken it to a whole new level. My favorite games are tennis and DDR. It is highly amusing to watch our 8yo take on the family. She has the ability to beat anyone in tennis, bowling, DDR, and depending on the song, Guitar Hero. There’s talent there baby! It has really be awesome for us. DDR is a great workout. The problem for me is finding uninterrupted time to complete a calorie set. I am not a gamer…not by any stretch. However, I do believe the Wii is the best game system ever. No, not for gamers, but for families. It is a system that is, or can be, a full body experience. Get off your tush and move people! It exercises more than your thumbs!

Way awesome. Way fun. Way cool.

Kontan Jou people, happy day!

Taking the dogs out this morning and it was truly a breath of fresh air. Crisp, but not cold, it is a comfortable 60 degrees with a bright blue sky. I wish I didn’t have work to do this afternoon, it would be a great park day. (maybe still, never know)

Song that immediately came to mind- Beautiful Day by U2

The revulsion of rhetoric

Preface: I love my school and I really don’t want to teach anywhere else.  The students are motivated, and faculty is allowed to teach without intervention and without being asked if there is any way to ‘help so-n-so pass” so he can play ball.

Facing reality…

Keep in mind I have lived in both Alabama and Mississippi and the stereotype, although not dominant, is certainly present.  The racism and American pride here shocks me.  No, I am not saying American pride is a bad thing.  It is a wonderful thing.  However, the idea that America can do no wrong and anyone different is bad bad bad annoys me.  The arrogance is shocking!  There are times that it is so surprising I imagine Sean Hannity would gasp.  Much of the rhetoric is simply for entertainment value, but I suspect there is a good bit of belief in what they spew.  It is to the point that it is offensive to me and IMO out of hand.  I have to address the situation.  Having an opinion is fine.  All I ask is that they know why they hold that opinion and back up their arguments with fact.  Including in every discussion that America should just blow them up, take them over, wipe them out, the KKK is a Christian organization that was for the good of man, or we’re the best and that’s why all should bow down…it is just not OK!

You need to understand that I do not allow insulting comments and I do not allow discussion to go on the track that some would like to take it.  I shut them down rather quickly, but it is becoming a problem.  I don’t know how to address the situation in such a way that does not sound anti-American.  I’m not anti-American.  Not at all!  I also do not embrace the imperialist attitude that some have.  Furthermore, I hate Obama bashing as much as I hate Bush bashing.  It is inappropriate and not allowed!  I think we need to go back to the beginning of the year respect discussion.  Yes…we need to have the respect discussion and probably a nice written reflection on the matter.  I also need to start deducting points for irrelevant comments or comments laced with racist overtones.

snow day #2

I know we will have to make the day up, but I don’t care. It was WONDERFUL to be able to sleep in this morning. I was not expecting the buzzing of my phone at 5:30 this morning, but what a sound.
